準備
在完成知情同意 (informed consent) 流程與術前諮詢 (preoperative consultation) 後，即進行皮膚的消毒準備 (prep) 並注入局部麻醉劑 (local anesthetic)（見第 12 章）。皮膚外科切除手術一般會執行無菌皮膚消毒準備 (sterile skin prep)，不過有資料顯示，於簡短且單純的手術中使用無菌手套 (sterile gloves) 未必能降低術後傷口感染 (postoperative wound infection) 的風險。46–48 常見的手術刷洗劑 (surgical scrubs) 包括 chlorhexidine 與 povidone–iodine；前者具有即使在濕潤狀態下仍能快速起效的優點，49 但 chlorhexidine 應避免接觸眼睛與耳朵，分別因其有引起角膜炎 (keratitis) 與耳毒性 (ototoxicity) 的風險。50
