Indications
Dermabrasion has been indicated for the treatment of multiple conditions (Table 56-1). For scars, the ideal treatment period is 6 to 8 weeks following injury, though some surgeons prefer dermabrasion significantly later. For deeper scars and professional tattoos, dermabrasion can be used as an adjunct to laser treatment, though scarring is more likely when it is used in this manner.
