可使用標準的皮膚外科器械盤 (standard dermatologic surgery instrument tray)（見第 5 章）(Fig. 50-6)。有些外科醫師偏好使用鋸齒狀無齒鑷 (serrated jaw forceps with no teeth) 來夾持脆弱的囊腫壁 (cyst wall)，因為有齒的鑷子可能增加刺破囊腫壁的風險。或者，也可使用止血鉗 (hemostats)。當囊腫壁黏附於周圍組織，且不打算進行整塊切除 (en bloc resection) 時，刮匙 (curette) 有時會很有用，因為它能讓外科醫師將囊腫內容物從鄰近組織刮除，並對正常組織造成最小的損傷。
