Submental fat accumulation contributes to an obtuse cervicomental angle and can age a patient or make them appear overweight. Widely used in all areas of the body, cryolipolysis selectively reduces fat cells with controlled, localized cooling and is a promising procedure for nonsurgical fat reduction and may be a viable alternative to liposuction.19,20 Although there are limited data for use of cryolipolysis in the neck, a pivotal study of 60 patients demonstrated visible improvements in the neck contour and generated high patient satisfaction, with a mean fat layer reduction of 2 mm.21 Cryolipolysis of submental fat may require multiple sessions to achieve the desired effect.3
