Concentrations range from 10% to 65%, with higher concentrations leading to increased penetration. It is commonly used in the management of solar lentigines, freckles, melasma, PIH, and acanthosis nigricans.35,36 The results

with TCA peel are good in most patients, although it can sometimes show unpredictable response and relapse, along with significant risk of local reactions such as dyschromias and scarring, especially in Fitzpatrick skin types IV to VI. However, when used cautiously in appropriate concentrations, the risk of complications is lower.

Salicylic acid peel SA is a naturally occurring ฮฒ-hydroxy acid derived from the bark of the willow tree. It is used at a concentration of 20% to 30% and applied at weekly to 2-weekly intervals for four to six sessions and has been found to be moderately effective in treatment of hypermelanoses including PIH and melasma.37
