Fillers such as Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Volyme, Restylane Defyne, Belotero Volume, and CaHA136 can be used along the jawline.137 Consensus recommendations were developed for jawline CaHA use.137 Subcutaneous and preperiosteal planes are
best suited for filler placement in the prejowls, jowls, and postjowls/mandibular angles. Linear threading or microaliquot techniques can be used with either 25- to 30- gauge needle injections or 1ยฝ to 2 in 27- or 25-gauge blunt cannulas. Injections in the pre and postjowls should be positioned under the mandibular rim. The entry point for cannulas may be just above the mandibular angle and below the ear lobule.29
Alternatively, for more medial correction, the cannula may be inserted along the mandibular rim in the prejowl sulcus.
Botulinum toxin The global aesthetics consensus for BTX-A treatment recommends an equivalent total of 5 to 15 units of intramuscular onabotulinumtoxin A to one to five injection points per side to the masseter muscle. The typical total dose of onabotulinumtoxin A is 15 to 40 units to each side. The โNefertiti liftโ can be achieved by injecting 2 to 3 units of BTX- A into five points uniformly distributed along the mandibular border of each side.133
