Anatomic considerations

No surgeon should ever undertake a procedure without a thorough working understanding of the related anatomy. It is assumed that surgeons reading this chapter have a basic knowledge of cutaneous surgical techniques and relevant anatomy such as the facial nerve branches, the greater auricular nerve, and the superficial veins of the neck such as the external jugular and anterior jugular veins and the parotid and submandibular glands (Fig. 74-1).
