Preoperative marking

Preoperative marking

Facelift patients should be marked in the upright position before any local or tumescent

injection. For traditional facelift, a midline mark is made at or just below the submental crease for liposuction, plastysmaplasty, or chin implant. The preauricular incisions made just inside the hairline of the sideburn follow the curvilinear preauricular anatomy, extend around the lobe, and remain in the postauricular sulcus. At the greatest width of the pinna, the incision should gently taper posteriorly and inferiorly, following the occipital hairline, just inside the hairline. The extent of the hairline incision is commensurate with the amount of neck skin excess for any given patient.
