Ears

INTRODUCTION

The highly contoured external ear and external auditory canal (EAC) collect and direct sound waves toward the tympanic membrane (TM).1 Visibly misshapen or malpositioned ears can negatively impact psychosocial health.2โ€“4 Goals of ear reconstruction include maintaining a patent EAC and restoring the projection and complex contours of the external ear. Several key principles help to preserve and restore appearance and function for each step of the reconstructive ladder.
