CD34 is a transmembrane glycoprotein found on dermal dendritic cells, as well as endothelial and hematopoietic progenitor cells.30,31 It is commonly used to differentiate DFSP from other fibrous tumors, particularly dermatofibroma, but also AFX, fibrosarcoma, and nodular fasciitis.32 It has been useful in the treatment of DFSP with MMS, as tumoral spindle cells can be difficult to distinguish from normal fibroblasts.31
