Scarring
Scarring
Scarring from MMS is often seen as the most significant sequela of the procedure from the patientโs perspective, and is dependent on both the extent of tumor-induced tissue destruction and closure technique. Hypertrophic scarring, keloids, widened scars, and scars demonstrating pigmentary changes are all possible, and counseling the patient prior to surgery is imperative in setting appropriate patient expectations.
