CHEEK-TO-NOSE INTERPOLATION FLAP
CHEEK-TO-NOSE INTERPOLATION FLAP
The cheek-to-nose interpolation flap (CIF), or melolabial interpolation flap, is a random pattern flap based on tributaries from the angular artery. It is best used for deep defects isolated to the nasal ala.12โ15 The flap derives from the sebaceous skin of the medial cheek, which provides a good color and texture match for this area, and the donor site scar is camouflaged in the melolabial fold. One disadvantage of this flap is the potential transfer of terminal beard hairs in men. This can be addressed through thinning of the flap or postoperative hair removal as described above for the PFF.
