PARAMEDIAN FOREHEAD FLAP
PARAMEDIAN FOREHEAD FLAP
The paramedian forehead flap (PFF) is a resilient, highly vascularized flap that is best used to repair large, complex defects on the nose. The sebaceous skin on the forehead provides a suitable color and texture match for this area, and the vascularity of the pedicle allows the flap to reach considerable distances. It is traditionally based on the supratrochlear artery, which lies approximately 1.5 to 2 cm from the midline of the glabella. The supratrochlear artery exits the supratrochlear foramen, crosses the corrugator supercilii, and pierces the frontalis muscle just above the level of the orbital rim. It continues to ascend vertically in the subcutaneous tissue.
