Lips
Lips
Linear repairs on the lips often heal very well, as long as the white line and wet line are appropriately prioritized. Deep defects should be repaired in a layered fashion, including repair of the orbicularis oris. While silk sutures have traditionally been advocated for the outer layer of lip closures, braided absorbable suture, such as polyglactin 910, is also very soft and may permit layered closure with a single suture packet. For a detailed discussion of lip repairs, see Chapter 40.
