Granuloma annulare

Granuloma annulare

Granuloma annulare is another benign condition effectively treated with cryosurgery. A single freezeโ€“thaw treatment cycle lasting 10 to 60 seconds using either liquid nitrogen or nitrous oxide leads to lesion resolution in 25 of 31 (80.6%) of patients. All patients developed blisters within 24 to 48 hours of treatment. Cryoatrophy (14.3%) and dyspigmentation (7.1%) were the most commonly reported adverse effects. Significantly, cryoatrophy developed in 21% of subjects treated with liquid nitrogen and none of the subjects who received nitrous oxide.20
