Fine-needle aspiration
Fine-needle aspiration
Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) has been used to sample lymph nodes, soft tissue masses, and even superficial tumors.9 The major disadvantage of this technique is that the architecture of the lesion cannot be evaluated. Assessment of architecture is often key to the diagnosis of cutaneous neoplasms as well as inflammatory dermatoses, and FNA is rarely performed in the dermatologic surgery context unless no other option is available.
