Excision
Excision is the most appropriate technique to produce tissue for examination when the lesion is most likely malignant and subtotal excision may compromise diagnosis or outcome.
The technique. The tissue is removed through the subcutaneous tissue by means of elliptical, circular, or scooped excision. Undermining is often required to free the wound edges to facilitate closure. The wound is closed with simple or layered closure.
