Percutaneous variations

When placing sutures in narrow areas, percutaneous approaches allow the placement of buried sutures when only minimal visualization is possible. This is particularly useful on the tight skin of the scalp, and when executing narrow closures on the nose and below the knee. Approaches include the percutaneous buried vertical mattress (Fig. 13- 20), the percutaneous set-back suture (Fig. 13-21), and the percutaneous horizontal mattress suture (Fig. 13-22).
