Caprosyn is a fast-absorbing monofilament suture, often seen as an alternative to Monocryl. It absorbs completely in 8 weeks, while retaining tensile strength for 7 to 10 days postoperatively. It is, therefore, useful in low-tension closures, such as those on the face, where rapid suture material breakdown is an advantage.
